Casino motels are filling up fast with visitors coming to Casino for Beef Week.

It's only 5 weeks to go to the start of the festival on May 26 and Beef Week president Stuart George said the committee is really pleased with the number of inquiries they are receiving.

"We've had a lot of inquiries through the office from people outside of Casino wanting to know what's on and when it's on.

"And there seems to be a good amount of interest in the led steer and stud cattle competitions, as well as the float parade.

It indicates that Beef Week will once again attract at wide range of visitors to Casino."

A preliminary program is available for download here and the official program will be out by the end of the month.

"The program is looking really good," Stuart said.

"It was disappointing that the board had to cancel the family day at the showground, but in true community spirit the RV Village has offered Beef Week their facilities to hold a market day on the Sunday of Beef Week.

"The deails have yet to be finalised, but the plan is to make the day a Family Day with stalls, children's rides and much more."

Traditional Beef Week favourite events remain - including the Beef Industry Breakfast and Beef Week Cup race meeting on Friday, May 29, and the street carnival and parade cattle competitions and auction and rodeo on Saturday, May 30.

Craig Murray,  CEO of Country Energy will officially open the festival at a masquerade ball on Thursday, May 28, which will feature the nine piece brass band, The Enormous Horns. The Beef Week Queen will be crowned at the ball.

The popular window display and staff dress-up competitions are back this year thanks to the Casino Chamber of Commerce who will run the compeition.

"This year's Beef Week theme is 'Carnivale', which offers plenty of scope for lots of colour and fun," Stuart said.

"We urge the town to get behind the window display competition - the displays not only generate interest, but they add to the festival atmosphere."
