Last Thursday evening the Casino Beef Week Board had to make the regrettable decision to cancel the Casino Beef Week Family Day due to a lack of funding to cover the costs associated with this event.

The cancellation of this event is a significant loss to the Country Energy Casino Beef Week Calendar.

The Family Day was well received in 2008 with an analysis conducted by Destination Research and Development, showing that 89% of respondents rated the event as average and above.

Of particular note is that all visitors surveyed from outside the Northern Rivers Area rated the event as very good and excellent.

President of Casino Beef Week Stuart George said that the Board was forced into a position where the only responsible decision that could be made was to cancel the Family Day.

“The Board acknowledge that the cancellation of this event has flow-on effects amongst the community especially those community groups who used the event as an opportunity to conduct fundraisers, however as stated above the decision of the board was un-avoidable," he said.

The Board is looking into the possibility of another function on the Sunday to replace the Family Day in the Country Energy Casino Beef Week Calendar.
